CityRead London, with Reading and Slough

Join us this May as we celebrate Jessie Burton's "The Muse", with a range of events and FREE copies of her book "On a hot July day in 1967, Odelle Bastien climbs the stone steps of the Skelton gallery in London, knowing that her life is about to change forever".
This May we are joining the world's largest book group and celebrating Jessie Burton's "The Muse".  Jessie Burton is well known for her previous book "The Miniaturist" which was adapted for TV last Christmas. All through May you will be able to collect FREE copies of The Muse from Slough's libraries as well as libraries across London.

We will be holding a series of events linking into the book:

  • Ancestors: Tracing your African and Caribbean heritage with Paul Crookes.
    Paul will be talking about the amazing discoveries he made using the 1817 slave registry
    Wed 16 May 5.30pm @ The Curve

  • Have a go at steel pans with SWIPE
